YR2 SATs Information 2022/23
General Information
SATs are national tests that children take twice during their primary school life. Firstly, at the end of Key Stage 1 (KS1) in Year 2, and then secondly, at the end of Key Stage 2 (KS2) in Year 6.
SATs should be looked at as an indicator of the progress your child has made at school so far. They are not a measure of whether your child is passing or failing; they simply show what level your child is currently working to.
Although there are many online resources that target SATs, and the gov.uk website has a resource of past papers, you can be equally helpful in continuing a daily reading scheme with your child, asking questions about the texts and practising high frequency words. For general maths practising the 2, 5 and 10 times tables, as well as strengthening number bonds to 10 and 20 and telling the time is a way to increase confidence. At such an early age it is important that your child continues to enjoy learning and exploring in ways that they find comfortable and without undue pressures.
Timetable
Our Key stage 1 children (Yr 2) will be sitting their SATs papers throughout May. Exact dates will be confirmed with the local Authority.
